WE AND OUR DOGS

As child I wanted to have a dog, and when I was 14 my parents allowed me to have a puppy. I still remember the happiness… The bitch was called KLARA and she was my best friend for 16 years. She didn’t have a pedigree, but she looked like West Siberian Laika.

A few years after her death, I moved out from a flat to a house with a big lovely garden. Then I decided to buy a dog, which would be both a guardian & a family friend. That time the breed similar to my ideal one was German shepherd.

KAJA was 8 months old when she appeared at our house. When she was 5 months LAWA- a little Saint Bernard joined her. Just after KAJA was 2 years old she started being ill. Vets didn’t give her any chance for a long life. Kaja left us after 2 years of intensive treatment which did not bring any visible results. I so cried so much and felt deep sorrow after her death. Then I made a decision of buying dog of such a breed, which is said to have good health. I was thinking of dog which would be a great guardian, would like children and there would be a small risk of genetic diseases.

The choice was not easy. Having read some books about dogs’ breeds I finally found a dog of my dreams- bigger than German shepherd with longer and easy to keep, velvet fur & of a nice character. And that was the way I found HOVAWARDS!!!

My first dog of this breed is a bitch HENDI SALUTARIS (at home called Dina), which in October 2005 was 2 years old. The second one is a dog BADDY Z POMEZI. He was 2 in February 2006.

The both dogs- their bringing up and training them are for me a big challenge. In June 2005 Dina, having taken part only in a few lessons, passed PT exam with an excellent result (192/200 points). On the same day in the morning Baddy passed his second exam (the PTT1 exam) with a good result. At the age of 9 months old he passed the PT exam and had a very good result- 187/200 points. He got third place and bronze medal at his training course. I’d like my both dogs to be working.

03.12.2005 Dina passed her psychology tests. The result of her hip joints X-ray examination is HD B (good).

In April 2006 Baddy started to take part in the IPO exam training course. It’s his third course. In the future we will examine him during psychological tests and make his hip joints X-ray examination

14.08.2006 Baddy was in X-ray his hip joints. He has HD-A!  26.11.2006 Baddy passed his psychology test successfully (13/15). Now he will be a father. To be continued…
